A $10,000 injection from the Bell Let’s Talk Community Fund will train 25 CMHA staff and volunteer peer mentors to be certified Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) facilitators. “What makes WRAP different is that it shifts the focus from symptom control to prevention and recovery,” says Mike Gawliuk, Director of Program Innovation & Service Delivery at CMHA. Shelagh Turner, Executive Director of the Canadian Mental Health Association, Kelowna branch joined 5 other delegates in a two week exchange of ideas and expertise with social housing counterparts in Nairobi, Johannesburg and Capetown, South Africa. Chair of the BC Non Profit Housing Association (BCNPHA), Turner provides leadership and support to over 600 member agencies in BC to create and support a high standard of affordable housing throughout British Columbia.
