Income and Disability Assistance Rates to Increase

A rate increase is coming for those receiving income and disability assistance, with Premier John Horgan announcing an additional $100/month for both. The increase is effective September 20th, 2017.

The new monthly rates will be $1,133 for a person receiving disability assistance and $710 for a person on income assistance.

This is certainly a step in the right direction for poverty reduction. Advocates hope that future increases will be linked to inflation rates.
