5 Reasons to Narrow Your Focus (Corporate Social Responsibility)
As a business owner, it seems as though you`re participating in a never-ending juggling act as you navigate through a multitude of priorities. You care about your community, and recognize that in order for your business to be healthy and thriving, the community around you also needs to be healthy and thriving. You know the business benefits that come from doing your part; market position, employee attraction and retention, and greater profitability. Mayor’s Charity Tournament Exceeds Expectations

The 6th Annual Basran Charity Open, held this past August, raised a record-breaking $33,730 for the KGH Foundation and CMHA Kelowna.
As one of the largest golf tournaments in the valley, Mayor Colin Basran keeps community impact top of mind. “Everyone who participates in the event does it to make a difference for healthcare in our community,” explains Basran. “From helping those with mental illness recover, to equipping our hospital with the best equipment possible, to making those who are sick a little more comfortable, this tournament touches everyone.”
Title sponsors TELUS & Andre’s Electronic Experts along with Flaman Fitness & Lake City Casinos generously contributed over $22,000 in cash & prizes. This, combined with dedicated hole sponsors, media support, organizing committee, volunteers and a record-breaking 210 golfers, and the tournament was bound to be a success.
“We’re so grateful for everything Colin does to support a healthy and vibrant community,” said Shelagh Turner, Executive Director of CMHA Kelowna. “It was a beautiful day and the funds raised will have an impact on so many people.”
Revenues from the event will be dedicated to KGH’s new Interior Heart & Surgical Centre as well as mental health programs and services that support families at CMHA Kelowna.
